IGNOU MPhil & PHD Eligibility Criteria 2024
Before applying for IGNOU M.PHIL/PH.D admissions, candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria of the courses. Below we have mentioned the eligibility criteria of M.PHIL and PH.D.
IGNOU M.Phil Eligibility Criteria
To pursue M.PHIL from IGNOU applicants must have qualified Master’s degree from UGC recognized University with at least 55% marks.
IGNOU PH.D Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must hold Master’s Degree from UGC recognized University with at least 55% marks.
- Candidates who have pursued M.PHIL degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or the candidates who have qualified NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR) or any other equivalent examination need not to seat for the Entrance Test.
- Those who have not qualified NET or any other equivalent examination or not have M.PHIL Degree need to seat in the Entrance Test

How to Apply for IGNOU MPhil / PhD 2024
Candidates must be well known about the application process before applying for M.PHIL AND PH.D. The application process is fully online. There is no IGNOU MPhil PhD Admission online offline application. So the candidates need to visit the official website to complete the application process. The steps of application process are mentioned below.
| STEP 1: | Go to the official website of IGNOU, www.ignou.ac.in.Then click on the “Log in” button appeared on the homepage of Online IGNOU M.PHIL/PH.D IGNOU MPhil PhD Admission 2024 system. And then create a log in id using required particulars. |
| STEP 2: | Enter all the required details. |
| STEP 3: | Upload Scanned copies of passport size photograph and signature within 100kb. |
| STEP 4: | pay the application fee of RS 100/- through online by net banking/debit card/credit card/ATM card (PNB). Application fee can also be paid offline through demand draft in the name of IGNOU at New Delhi. |
| STEP 5: | After completing all the steps successfully and after paying the application fee click on the NEXT button. Candidates can review their form in this step from Preview option. Then click on the ‘Save’ button and take a print out of the application form. |

Selection procedure includes two steps
- Entrance Test
- Interview/Presentation
IGNOU MPhil / Ph.D Result
Candidates who will fill the application form have to seat for entrance test and need to secure minimum 50% for general candidates and 45% for reserved category candidates. After the IGNOU MPhil PhD Admission merit list is published candidates will be called rank wise for interview. For one seat maximum five candidates will be called for interview.
