Border Security Force or BSF will conduct recruitment examination for the posts of assistant sub inspector (ASI) and head constable (HC). First one will be posted in RM and second one will get posting in Radio Operator or RO section. Both the posts are technical, so in the ASI post Diploma Engineer in Electronics will be recruited and in the HC post, candidates who are having ITI pass certificate (or 12th pass) will be recruited. A candidate has to pass several steps to clear the examination. We are giving the detailed recruitment process, syllabus, qualifying marks and other important information below.

Recruitment Process of BSF RM RO:
There will be 2 steps or phases in the whole recruitment program and they are –
First Phase – In this phase two separate exams will be there – (i) OMR Based Written Exam (Screening Test) and (ii) Descriptive Test.
Second Phase – This is related to physical fitness and medical exams only. The detailed steps are –
(i) Physical Measurement – Here the height and chest for male and height only for female candidates will be measured. Candidates who will pass in this step will be eligible for next step.
(ii) Physical Efficiency Test (PST) – There will be race, long jump and high jump for the candidates where he or she has to qualify in the given time frame.
(iii) Documents Verification.
(iv) Medical Examination – Candidates will be thoroughly checked by Medical Officers of BSF. If a candidate fails in Medical, the re-medical will be conducted.
Syllabus of Written Exam (Screening Test) 200 marks – It will consist of 100 MCQ each carrying 2 marks. 0.5 marks will be deducted for each wrongly selected answer.
Physics – 50 marks,
Mathematics – 50 marks,
Chemistry – 50 marks,
English and General Knowledge – 50 marks.
Physics, Chemistry and Math questions will be of 12th class level.
Questions from History, Geography, General Science, Current affairs will be asked in GK section. You can check our new Current affairs section where we provide easy to remember short notes.
The exam duration is 2 hours and it will be an “OMR based multiple choice test”.
Descriptive Test –
1) For ASI (RM): There will be one single exam of 200 marks. Questions from (i) Physics, (ii) Chemistry, (iii) Mathematics and (iv) Electronics will be asked. Questions from Electronics will be asked from diploma level. Other subjects will be based on 12th level.

2) For HC (RO): 2 exams will be held for Head Constable Recruitment and they are –
(a) Descriptive questions of 100 marks consisting of (i) Physics, (ii) Chemistry & (iii) English.
(b) Dictation Test – 100 marks.
Qualifying Marks for Written & Descriptive test:
For General and OBC Candidates – 38%,
For SC ST – 33%.
