Southern Railway Apprentice Merit List will release after shortlisting of candidates. The merit list of Southern Railway will be announced after the result of the SR is prepared. Merit list of Apprentice posts of the Southern Railway will consist of the names and roll number of successful candidates for different trades like Fitter, Welder etc.

How to Apply:
Application form is required to be obtained from office of the chief workshop manager within the due dates. It is mandatory for the general category candidates that they have done registration through employment exchange of particular states. Application fee is to be submitted by making a crossed postal order of Rs 100 payable to the specific person mentioned in their notification. Form must be submitted along with all the prescribed documents.

Details of the post:
Act apprentice (ex-ITI and Freshers) in following posts –
Fitter, Carpenter, Painter, Welder (G&E), Upholster, Machinist, Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV), PASSA, Electrician, Wireman, Winder, Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic posts are there.
Candidates in above posts will be posted in various departments like Carriage and Wagon Workshop, Electrical Workshop (Perambur), Loco Works, Engineering Workshop (arakkonam), Chennai Division, Railway Hospital etc.
Vacancy:
There are total 862 vacant seats for the act apprentices including the ex ITI and fresher candidates. Vacancy will be reserved for SC ST OBC category candidates also.
Educational Qualification Required:
Eligibility for act apprentices in S.R (Southern Railway) –
Fresher – Candidates must have passed 10th class in (10+2) system. Some posts require either 8th pass or 12th pass with science subjects.
Ex-ITI – 10th Pass with ITI in relevant trade from recognized institution. The ITI certificate / institution must be approved by NCVT.
Important Dates of Recruitment:
Application form will be available from 23-05-2016 to 31-05-2016.
Last date for application form receipt – 20-06-2016.
Salary Structure:
During the training or apprenticeship the recruited staffs will get stipend on fixed salary basis. In the 3 / 4 years duration of training they will be given different amounts in the period and it is
Rs 5,700 for 1st year,
Rs 6,500 for 2nd year,
Rs 7,350 for 3rd and 4th year.
Selection Process / Exam Pattern:
Recruitment will be done on the basis of Merit List prepared on the marks obtained in their academic score / ITI score.
Age Limit:
Lower Limit = 15 years,
Upper Limit = 20, 22, 24 years depending on the category and post.
Relaxation in upper age limit will be provided for SC ST candidates also.
Exam Fee:
General Candidates – Rs 100.
SC ST Candidates – Nil.
