Odisha Civil Service Syllabus 2023 Prelims Mains Exam Pattern Download

Odisha Public Service Commission has asked for the online application from the eligible graduate candidates having passed Odia as a subject till the middle school for the Category-I posts of Odisha Administrative Service Group-A, Odisha Police Service etc. The Odisha Civil Service Preliminary Written OPSC Civil Service Syllabus 2023 Examination will commence hopefully in 2023 and the candidates successfully going through this test will be called for the Main Examination.

Odisha Civil Service Exam | Selection Process (Stages & Marks Distribution)

There will be three phases of selection test conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission for the Category-I and Category-II posts which are –

1. Preliminary Examination – 400 Marks,
2. Main Examination – 2600 Marks,
3. Interview – 250 Marks.

Odisha Civil Service Preliminary Exam Pattern 2023

At first the Preliminary Examination will be conducted and it will be Objective in nature, having Multiple Choice Questions. There will be total 2 papers of the Preliminary Examination. Below are the exam scheme & OPSC Civil Service Syllabus 2023 and marks distribution of the various phases –

OPSC Civil Service Interview or Personality test Details

Interview will consist of 250 Marks. This is the 3rd and final stage of the selection process. After the mains exam, candidates will be shortlisted for the Interview. Candidates will be called for interview based on the marks obtained in the mains exam.

General Studies Paper 1 (Preliminary Exam) Syllabus:

• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Physical, Social and Economic Geography of India and the World
• Indian Politics and Governance- Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc.
• Economic and Social Development- Sustainable Development, Poverty,
• General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-Diversity and Climate Change
• General Science

General Studies Paper 2 (Preliminary Exam) Syllabus:

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal Skills including communication skills
• Logical Reasoning and Analytic Ability
• Decision Making and Problem Solving
• General Mental Ability
• Basic Numeracy (Class-X level), Data Interpretation (Class-X level)
• English Language Comprehension Skills ( Class-X level)

OPSC Civil Service Main Exam Syllabus 2023

There will be 5 compulsory papers in the OPSC Mains Exam. The subject wise OPSC Civil Service Syllabus 2023 for the OPSC Mains Compulsory papers are provided below –

Odia Language Syllabus

• Comprehension of a given passage – 30 Marks
• Precis writing with a passage of around 1000 words – 40 Marks
• Translation from English to Odia – 30 Marks
• Grammar, usage and vocabulary – 80 Marks
• Short Essay of around 1000 words – 100 Marks
• Expansion of an idea – 20 Marks

English language Syllabus

• Comprehension of a given passage – 30 Marks
• Precis writing with a passage of around 1000 words – 40 Marks
• Translation from Odia to English – 30 Marks
• Grammar, usage and vocabulary – 80 Marks
• Short Essay of around 1000 words – 100 Marks

English Essay:

Candidates will be required to write an Essay on a specific topic which will be provided by the Commission.

OPSC Civil Service Optional Subjects Syllabus 2023

The OPSC Civil Service Syllabus 2023 for optional subject papers for the Main Examination will be of a level higher than Bachelor’s degree and lower than the Master’s degree. In case of Engineering and Law, the level is Bachelor’ Degree. 2 subjects are to be selected from the list of the Optional subjects given below and each subject will have 2 papers of 300 marks each.
