Postal Department Exam Syllabus, Cut off, Selection Process of Postman & Mailguard – Written Test
Exam Pattern –
Indian Post Office recruits Postman and mailguard in different postal circle every year. We have given here detailed selection method & exam pattern step by step and the syllabus of written test. We have given here also the probable cut off or qualifying marks. Please see the detailed information below –
Selection Process of Postman / Mailguard –
Recruitment process will only include written exam. There has been no mention of interview anywhere in their official notification. Written test pattern has been mentioned here. Here is the important points about the written exam or aptitude test –
The aptitude test will consist of 100 questions each carrying 1 mark. Total 100 marks will be there.
There will be no negative marking for wrong answer.
The written test will be divided in four (4) parts – A, B, C (i) & C (ii), each part will consist of 25 marks.
MCQ or Multiple Choice Questions will be asked in the exam.
It will be on OMR paper, candidates have to mark with black ball point pen.
Duration of the test will be 2 hours.
Syllabus of written exam –

Part A – (General Knowledge) 25 marks – History, Geography, Economics, Polity, Culture, General Science, Reasoning, Current affairs etc.

Part B – (Mathematics) 25 marks – Profit & Loss, Time & Distance, average, mensuration, graphs, ration & proportion etc.
Part C (i) – (English) 25 marks – Questions from English grammar (proposition, article, verb), Synonym & antonym, phrases, unseen passage etc.
Part C (ii) – (Regional Language) 25 marks – Questions will be asked from the regional language (like Hindi for MP circle). Grammar questions of regional language of that particular circle where the recruitment exam is going to be held, will be asked.

Qualifying / cut off marks –
Candidates have to get minimum qualifying marks in each section of the test. The cut off marks will be decided by the Indian Postal Dept.
As per their official notification no Rectt /2-6/MTS /2011/Ch.III dated 09-04-2024, they have stated qualifying marks for each part as –
Part A & B – 10 marks for General,
Part C (I & II) – 10 marks in each segment for General candidates.
