WBPSC Forest Service Exam Notification 2024 – Recruitment & Vacancy Details

After a straight gap of 5 years, the West Bengal Public Service Commission notified about the commencement of competitive examination for Forest Service posts. In 2013 the last WBFS Notification was released for various Forest Department posts. Now, the authority is going to conduct a WB Forest Service Recruitment drive for the posts in the State’s forest department.

West Bengal has 14% forest cover among the total area of the State. So, to manage and maintain the forestry in the state and for multipurpose other assignments, the State requires officers of various category. As forestry is in Combined List of both State & Centers role, so West Bengal Govt assigns officers via its Separate State Forest Service exam called WBFS. Both the West Bengal State Service and Sub-ordinate Forest Service is conducted via single examination.

Age Upper Limit Relaxation

Relaxation in Upper Age Limit will be provided for the SC ST OBC candidates of West Bengal as per following rules.

For Govt Service candidates the same age limit applies as General Category candidates.
There is no mention of Ex-serviceman candidates age relaxation in WBFS / WBSFS.

Physical Eligibility Criteria for WB Forest & Subordinate Forest Service Recruitment

The appearing candidates must ensure that they possess minimum physical requirement as prescribed by the West Bengal Forest Department.

Syllabus of WBFS 2024

Selection process

(i) Preliminary Examination (Objective Type),
(ii) Main Examination (Conventional Type)
(iii) Personality Test / Interview.
Candidates should also possess certain physical measurement as required by WBPSC.
Preliminary exam is the first step of selection. It will carry 200 Marks and duration of the test is 2:30 Hours. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) objective type will be asked.
