There will be total two papers in the examination of the regional inspector. The two papers will be set on technical subjects in the written exam. The candidates who clear the UPPSC regional inspector exam shall sit for the UPPSC Practical Exam 2020. There will be two papers, the first paper will be of 60 marks and the duration will be of 2 hours and the second paper will consist of 120 marks and will be of 3 hours time duration. The candidates who clear both the technical papers will have to sit for the UPPSC practical examination and the practical examination will be of 100 marks.
Selection Process for Regional Inspector post
The selection of the Regional Inspector in Uttar Pradesh, will be done through following steps –
- Written Exam (180 Marks) &
- Practical Exam (100 Marks).
Those who will clear the Written Test, will be eligible for appearing in the Practical Exam. After that, final merit list will be prepared.

UPPSC Regional Inspector Paper 1 Syllabus:
Highway Code, the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, Central Motor Vehicle rules, 1989 and Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1998.
UPPSC Regional Inspector Paper 2 Syllabus:
- (i) Maintenance and upkeep of motor vehicles;
- (ii) Principal factors relating to road safety;
- (iii) Minor and major repairs of motor vehicle;
- (iv) Mechanism and working of diesel, Petrol, gas and dual fuel engines;
- (v) Service check-up and model routine;
- (vi) VehicularAir and Noise pollution.
Minimum Qualifying Marks in Practical Test:
In Practical Test, one must achieve 40% Marks. The marks obtained in practical will not be counted during Regional Inspector Merit List preparation.
