Exam Pattern Physical Eligibility & Tests for Punjab Police Constable (male / female)
Selection Procedure of the Punjab Police is discussed below including the physical requirements for male and female candidates. The detailed exam pattern / syllabus is also given here. No written / online exam will be there. Only PMT (measurement) and physical screening test (PST) will be conducted to form the pre merit list as per height and academic score. Physical Requirements for Punjab Police Constable post (district / armed cadre):
There will be two types of tests which will be conducted to prepare the merit lists of Punjab Police Constables and they are –
1) Physical Measurement Test (PMT).
2) Physical Screening Test (PST).
Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
The first step for the recruitment procedure of Punjab Constables is PMT. Here candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of Height. Each of the candidates will be tested where candidates must have the required physical standards / requirements as prescribed by the recruiter. Category wise height requirements are given below.

Physical Screening Test:
Those who will clear the cut off marks / pass the PMT, will be called for the PST. This exam will be of qualifying in nature. Here candidates have to perform several activities / games in which they must qualify to go into the next step. Each of the male, female and ex-serviceman candidates have to perform the task but it will be of different type for each category. Details is given below –
For Female Candidates –
- 800 meters race (4 minutes),
- Long Jump (3 meters),
- High Jump (.95 meters).
For male candidates –
- 1600 meter race (6 minutes 30 seconds),
- Long Jump (3.8 meters),
- High Jump (1.1 meters).
For ex-serviceman candidates there will be run & walk and squats.
How Preliminary Merit List will be prepared:
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of 2 things. On 30 marks the preliminary merit list will be prepared and they are as follows –
- Height wise marks list (15 marks) and
- Marks obtained in 12th exam (15 marks).
How marks will be given for height – Height marking system is given below.
Marking system for 10+2 academic score –
Above 80% – 15 marks,
71 – 80% – 14,
61 – 70% – 13,
51 – 60% – 12,
41 – 50% – 11,
Upto 40% – 10 marks.
For ex-serviceman (ESM) their 10th marks will be taken in account.
Interview (4 marks):
Those who will be shortlisted and whose names are in pre exam merit list, will be called for the final stage of the recruitment process that is interview cum personality test. There will be 04 marks awarded in the interview at max. Candidates have to appear in the same venue / place (range, commissionerate, zonal recruitment board).
Final Merit List:
This will be prepared on the basis of 30 marks (PMT & academic score mentioned above) and 4 marks (interview) that is 34 marks.
There will be separated merit list for each of the armed police cadre – male, district police cadre – female, district police cadre – male.
* Please note – Before the PMT and PST, a substance abuse or drug addiction test will be conducted. Only those who will clear the medical test, will be eligible for the next steps.
