Eligibility Criteria & Maximum age limit for AFCAT Exam

Before appearing in Air Force Common admission test (AFCAT) exam for Officers posts in Indian Airforce (IAF) candidates must check their eligibility for the exam. For all the branches like flying branch, technical branch (for b.tech engineers) and ground duty branches, separate educational criteria has been decided. Candidates must fulfil the minimum educational qualification for the exam. There are limitations of age also. Minimum and maximum age limit has also been given for the exam. Please see the branch wise eligibility details for the officer posts in IAF for male and female candidates.
Educational Qualification Required:
Candidates must have minimum educational eligibility for applying to the post. Category wise educational criteria is given below. Candidates who can or can’t apply for the post can understand from this information.
Eligibility for Flying Branch:
- Graduation in any subject with 60% marks and have studied Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 (12th) level
Or,
- E / B.tech degree in any stream,
Or,
- Cleared section A & B exam of AMIE or aeronautical society of India with 60% ma
Eligibility for Technical Branch:
This post is completely for the engineers where fresh engineering graduates and final year appearing candidates can also apply. For being eligible for this Engineering posts in Indian Airforce, you must have following qualification.
Passed 10+2 with Physics and Maths each with 60% marks and have done Graduation in Engineering (B.E / B.tech) or integrated post-graduation (M.E / M.tech) or AMIE with 60% marks or equivalent in CGPA scale in following branches –
For Aeronautical Engineering electronics (AE – L) – Electronics / Electrical / Electronics & Communication (ECE) / IT / Computer Science (CSE) Engineering or relevant.
For Aeronautical Engineering mechanical (AE – M) – aeronautical engineering, aircraft maintenance engineering, mechanical engineering or relevant discipline.
Eligibility for Ground Duty Branch:
Administration & Logistics | Graduation in any subject or engineering with 60% marks. |
Accounts | B.com with at least 60% marks. |
Education | MBA / MCA / MA / MSc in English / Physics / Math / Chemistry etc. with 50% in PG and 60% in Graduation. |
Age Criteria:
Lower age limit for the post will be 20 years for all the branches.
Upper age limit for is 24 years for Flying branch and 26 years for technical and ground duty branches.
Those who are holding valid Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA will be given relaxation in age up to 26 years.
