Meghalaya Police SI Constable Physical Requirements & Syllabus

Recruitment Process Exam Pattern Physical Eligibility for Meghalaya Police Sub Inspector (SI) Constable

Physical Requirements are must for applying for the posts of Sub Inspector and SI in Meghalaya Police dept. Candidates will have to go through the Physical Eligibility Test (PET) and Measurement Test (PMT) followed by written exam and interview. The steps are given in detail. We also have given the syllabus and the exam pattern of the recruitment. Please study thoroughly about how the recruitment and selection will be done in Meghalaya Police Posts.

Minimum Physical Measurements / Standards Required:

Candidates must have some physical standards for the posts in Meghalaya Police. Each post has separate physical criteria or cut off and they are discussed as follows.

Only Height Measurements will be required for being eligible to the posts in Meghalaya Pollice.

For Sub Inspector (UB SI / AB SI) and Constables both the posts, minimum height required is given in the following table category wise.

Gender General ST (Garo, Khasi & Other Tribes)
Male 162 cm 157 cm
Female 157 cm 152cm


No measurement of chest and weight is required.

Exam Pattern / Marks Distribution:

If you are preparing for the Meghalaya Police posts, then you must know the exam pattern or what are the recruitment steps and how many marks are allotted for each steps. There are different marks distribution or weightage for each of the posts and they are as given below.

For Category I (UB SI) and Category 3 UB Constable:

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) 100 marks
Written Exam 300 marks
Interview 50 marks


For Category 2 (AB SI), Category 4 (AB Constable) and Category 5 (Followers):

PET 250 marks
Written Exam 150 marks
Interview 50 marks

Physical Measurements Test (PMT):

The first step of the recruitment procedure is PMT where candidates will be tested for required minimum height eligibility as given on the table. Those who are having the criteria will be deemed qualified in the test.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Next step is PET where candidates will have to qualify in Race in given time.

For male candidates – 5 km race is to be completed within 24 minutes maximum.

For female candidates – 3 km race is to be finished within 19 minutes max.

Marking system will be on the basis of time taken in completing running. It will be different for UB and AB posts. For UB posts the PET will be conducted on 100 marks and for AB posts it will be done for 250 marks.

Written Exam:

Those who will clear the cut off marks will have to appear for written test. No online exam will be held. For each post the UB / AB and SI / Constable post, there will be different exam pattern and marks distribution (full marks).

Syllabus of the Written Exam:

For SI Posts –

  • General English,
  • Math, reasoning & science,
  • General Knowledge.

For Constable Posts –

  • English Grammar,
  • Arithmetic / elementary science,
  • General awareness (GK).

Shortlist will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in PMT and written test and those candidates will be called for interview.

Final selection will be done on the basis merit list prepared by the marks obtained in PMT, written exam and interview.

    1. Meghalaya Police dept didnt mention about appearing candidates. They said, in their notification, that the eligibility for the post is graduation. So it is generally expected that before the last date of applying you have got a graduation certificate. But, if you want to compete in the exam for experience purpose, you can apply.
